Holsen & Cassiers is the new duo of Norwegian trumpeter Hilde Marie Holsen and Belgian vocalist Lynn Cassiers. This new project saw the light in September 2017, when both artists were invited as representatives for their respective countries at a Match&Fuse-event in Dublin. Given the opportunity to work together for five days, their collaboration felt extremely natural and resulted in a great success on the night of performance. January 2023 they released their first album 'Walking In Circles'.

Michaël Attias has earned a reputation as one of the most questing and keenly collaborative figures on the 21st-century New York jazz and impro scene. Migrations spanning North Africa, the Middle East, Western Europe and the American Midwest ultimately brought Attias to New York City in 1994, where he continued to pursue his muse as improviser, composer and bandleader. As a leader, he has released eight albums, including the 2019 Out of Your Head release échos la nuit (featuring Attias solo on alto saxophone and piano), and the 2017 Clean Feed debut of his Nerve Dance quartet with Aruán Ortiz, John Hébert and Nasheet Waits.

Bert Cools
Bert Cools, gitarist en geluidskunstenaar, is voornamelijk actief in de wereld van improvisatie en elektronische muziek. Hij speelt concerten als solo artiest en componeert voor zijn eigen bands Merope, Hoera, Book of Air. Bert is ook actief met de eigen creatie/dansvoorstelling Come On Feet, maakte muziek voor de Opera 'Vake Poes' en is vaak sideman bij o.a. Sam Amidon, Efterklang en Trixie Whitley.

In 2011 startte hij samen met Stijn Cools het kunstplatform granvat.com.
Met granvat vinden de broers Cools een ruimte tussen folk, jazz en elektronische muziek. granvat produceerde verschillende releases en evenementen wereldwijd.

Kang's and Kenney's previous albums include Cypress Dance (Ed. Mariana Calo & Francisco Queimadela), the face of the earth, Aestuarium (Ideologic Organ), Reverse Tree (Black Truffle), Seva/Fixiones (self released cassette), and At Temple Gate with Hyeon Hee Park (Weyrd Son).
Expect music from two outstanding musicians advancing into inventive forms of minimalist, but emotionally resonant music.

Walter Jr., dat is een internationale naam met faam en een ensemble van jong Belgisch jazztalent. Voor deze editie wordt Jon Irabagon de internationale coach. Jon werkt twee dagen met de klas vrije improvisatie van Frederik Leroux aan het Conservatorium Antwerpen. 's Avonds speelt deze jonge band een openingsset en warmt zo het podium op voor Rebellion(s).

We're happy to have them at Werkplaats Walter as part of new conspiricies with the Brussels Museum of Resistance: Rebellion(s) is the brainchild of saxophonists Sylvain Rifflet and Jon Irabagon. Friends since 1998, Rifflet and Irabagon previously collaborated across the Atlantic Ocean by arranging over a dozen compositions by Moondog for a new ensemble that featured children's choir, music boxes and a stellar ensemble of new music and improvisatory musicians. Their current and timely project, Rebellion(s), combines cutting edge writing and improvising with civic-minded speeches dealing with equality, women's suffrage, racism, gun control, work conditions and several other topics of debate. The music is both a call-to-action as well as inspirational and challenging. The noncompromising nature of the speeches and compositions promises a concert filled with excitement and unexpected directions.

Het is een antioorlogsstuk, vol emoties en schitterende muziek.

ZINNEKELEKH
De naam Zinnekelekh is een Jiddische vertaling van "Zinneke", een woord dat "bastaard" betekent in het traditionele Brussels dialect. En het is deze mix waar dit ensemble voor staat - een groep met zowel Jiddische als Brusselse roots en met een verrassende culturele verscheidenheid. Joods en niet-Joods, Franstalig-Nederlands-Anglofoon-Andalousisch-Russisch... Verenigd door de liefde voor klezmermuziek, en met een ruime mix van muzikale achtergronden, bestaat de groep uit verschillende instrumenten die aanwezig zijn in een traditionele klezmer 'kapelye': violen, accordeon, klarinet, trompet, evenals een gitaar en cello. Zinnekelekh put haar repertoire uit de traditionele Joodse feestmuziek die in Oost-Europa en in de Balkan werd gespeeld. Met hun akoestische sound met af en toe een vleugje Jiddisch, nodigt hun spontane stijl genereus uit ten dans.
